A businessman arrested for killing a Malta journalist will not be granted immunity

Malta Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has said that the suspect in the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia will not be granted immunity if he discovers some information about her murder.

Businessman Yorgen Fenech asked for a presidential pardon in exchange for information. He was arrested last week on his yacht, BBC reports.

Requested hospital treatment

After his arrest, Fenech sought hospital treatment and was taken to a hospital, where he remained under police surveillance.

Journalist Caruana Galizia was killed in a car explosion on October 16, 2017. She claimed that Fenech is contracting business with high-ranking politicians through her company called 17 Black. The prime minister accused him of turning Malta into a “mafia island”.
