A train halves a bus at the crossing of a railway line in Pakistan, with at least 18 dead

AT LEAST 18 people were killed and 55 injured when a train hit a bus in Sindh province of South Pakistan, officials said.

The collision in which the train halved the bus occurred at the crossing of the railway.

All the victims were bus passengers, except for the assisted driver who was slightly injured.

Poorly maintained rail

There are frequent rail accidents in Pakistan as the railway network inherited from the British colonizer is poorly maintained.

At the end of October, 74 people died in a central part of the country in a fire in a passenger train that broke out when a gas bottle exploded in the kitchen.

In July, two trains collided with 23 trains, and Prime Minister Imran Khan called for urgent measures to be taken to repair the state of the railways after decades of neglect for infrastructure.
