An open cave where the boys were trapped, they must not talk about it

Tham Luang Cave in Thailand, which last year captured 12 boys and their football coach, was opened to tourists on Friday after 15 months.

Around 2000 people gathered yesterday in front of a cave where the coach and members of the Wild Boar football club spent a full 17 days yesterday, hoping to be among the first to enter, according to the Bangkok Post.

As part of an international action involving more than 90 divers from all parts of the world, all were rescued. Unfortunately, a member of the Thai Navy, diver Saman Gunan, passed away, losing consciousness on his way out of the cave into which he was delivering oxygen bottles.

The Tham Luang Cave in northern Thailand is officially opened for tourists and visitors by a ceremony held on Friday hosted by the Deputy Director for National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation.

She was attended by Thai monks, government officials and park guards. 20 people were allowed to enter the first room of the cave at one time, but it was open to all other visitors between 8:30 and 16:30 local time.

A million people visited the site last year

Last year, about one million people visited the cave, but were not allowed to enter it.

A group of boys, aged between 11 and 16, and their 20-year-old trainer at the cave were left trapped on June 23, 2018, after the tunnel was flooded before entering the cave.

The rescue operation, which lasted for a full 17 days, was attended by volunteers and professionals from all parts of the world.

Netflix has secured the rights to the miniseries on saving the boy, and so far the event has been described in several books.

The boys are not allowed to talk about staying in the cave because of exclusive contracts that prohibit them from contacting journalists.

The boys went on a trip to the cave on June 23, 2018, but were followed by groundwater as a result of heavy seasonal rains and flooded the underground complex.

It was feared that all were dead until two British divers mastered a series of narrow flooded roads and corridors on July 2 and found them alive, trapped in an elevated chamber about four kilometers from the entrance.

After a dramatic race against time for fear of new flooding, all the boys were rescued by July 10 and became world stars.
