Foundation moves against rapists

By Tokunbo Ogunsami

The Real Act of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation has donated 500 pepper sprays to women to help them resist attack by rapists.

Founder Mobolaji Ogunlende said RAK is partneringwith the Badagry Women Development Forum (BWDF) to fight rape.

Ogunlende, who addressed reporters in Badagry, said rape is a crime everybody should kick against.

He said: “This is why we are collaborating with women in Badagry to sensitise the public on rape. It is something we all have to kick against. My NGO is creating awareness to help our women fight this evil.

“Many women have fallen victim to rape; we are using this forum to tell them to speak out. Some of these victims, who have been suppressed, should use this forum to speak out.

Rights group laments rise in rape

“To men who are fond of raping, you are not a real man because real men don’t rape,” Ogunlende said.

He urged the government to do more for rape victims by creating centres where they could report their cases, adding that the government should collaborate with NGOs to stop rape.

Other items donated include publicity paraphernalia such as customised T-shirts, banners and fliers.
