Italy severely penalizes those who violate quarantine

ITALY has imposed penalties on those who breach the quarantine in that country in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic. Despite the quarantine measure, there are many who do not comply with such a provision.

Thus, those who are coronavirus positive and do not remain in isolation are at risk of ending up to five years in prison. Penalties for non-compliance with quarantine have also been raised for those who are not infected and now amount to as much as three thousand euros. The previous fine was 400 euros.

Jobs that violate coronavirus prevention measures can be closed for five to 30 days. The government then determined that penalties would be reviewed every month during the pandemic and could be revised.

Italy is the hardest hit country with the coronavirus. 69,176 people were infected, 6820 died and 8326 recovered.
