New storm hits hurricane of devastated Bahamas

A NEW storm hit early this morning with Hurricane Bahamas, and the Miami National Hurricane Center (NHC) has warned it could develop into a tropical storm.

Tropical disturbance over central Bahamas was reported early today with gusts of 45 kilometers per hour and is expected to drop 5 to 10 inches of rain on Sunday, the NHC said.

Storm Humberto

According to the NHC, the chance is 80 percent that the storm will turn into a more severe tropical depression or even a tropical storm, called Humberto, the next day or later.

The storm is moving toward Florida at a rate of nine miles per hour through the Bahamas, according to the NHC.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the northwestern part of the Bahamas, including the hurricane-stricken islands of Abacos and Grand Bahama.

The storm is expected to get speeding today by moving northwest and could hit Florida on Saturday.

Standby has been in effect on the Midwest Florida coast since last night.

The aftermath of Hurricane Dorian

About 2500 people are on the missing list after the devastating Category 5 hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas on September 1, Bahamian officials said Wednesday.

It is thought that a tropical cyclone will not cause even near damage like the one caused by Hurricane Dorian.
