Oyo NULGE elects officers against court injunction

From Bisi Oladele, Ibadan

Oyo State chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has elected a new executive.

The Nation learnt that the election of the new executive was held overnight despite a court injunction restraining it from conducting the poll pending its determination.

The restraining order was issued by Justice N. C. S. Ogbuanya of the National Industrial Court sitting in Lagos.

The court gave the order in a suit filed by Comrade Hakeem Ojo Oyewo over his “unlawful and unexplained exclusion” as a candidate for the office of the state chairman in the election.

The Nation gathered that the association conducted the congress before 6am and elected Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun as the new chairman of the union in the state.

Speaking after he was declared winner, Adeogun promised not to disappoint the union. He also pledged to follow the footprint of his predecessors.

He said in a video: “My fellow comrades, Oyo NULGE has decided today. So, we have been elected into our various offices as far as Oyo local government employees association is concerned.”
