Reps want NSITF mgt back
From Tony Akowe, Abuja
The House of Representatives on Thursday faulted the processes leading to the suspension of top management and Executive Committee members of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and asked that they be reinstated immediately.
This form part of the recommendations of the adhoc Committee set up by the House to investigate the arbitrary breach of presidential directives on the suspension of top management and Executive Committee members of NSITF.
The report was tabled before the House at plenary by Chairman of the Committee, Hon Miriam Onuoha, but a member of the Committee Ifeanyi Momah objected to the submission of the report saying he only became aware that the report will be submitted that day.
He said he was not given the opportunity to make his own input and requested that the report be stepped down for him to make his own input.
NSITF awarded N4.448b contract in one day, says Ngige
However, members of the Committee said he was the only one out of the 16 members of the Committee who did not sign the report.
She asked the House to “consider the Report of the Ad-hoc Committee on the Need to Investigate the Arbitrary Breach of Presidential Directives on the Suspension of Top Management and Executive members of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and Other Government Agencies by Ministers and approve the Recommendations therein”.

The report urged the president, acting through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to reinstate the suspended officials and ensure that due process is followed.
Those to be reinstated include Barr. Adebayo Somefun (Managing Director/Chief Executive), Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson (Executive Director, Operations), Alhaji Tijani Suleiman Darazo (Executive Director, Admin), Jasper Azuatalam (Executive Director, Finance and Investment).
Others are Olumide Olusegun Bashorun, General Manager (Admin), Lawan Tahir, General Manager (Finance), Chris Esedebe, General Manager (Claims), Oludotun Adegbite, Deputy General Manager (investment), Emmanuel Sike Enyinnaya, Deputy General Manager (Finance), Ms. Dorothy Tukura, Deputy General Manager (Training), Mrs. Olutoyin Arokoyo, Deputy General Manager (Legal), Mrs. Victoria Anyatuga, Asst. General Manager (Audits) and Abdul Rasheed Lawai, Deputy Director (Procurement).
The House urged “that Mr. President through the office of Secretary to the Federal Government to reinstate these Officials and ensure that due process is observed in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund Act, and the Circular (Ref No: SGF/OP/l.S.3/T/163) titled Approved Disciplinary Procedure Against Chief Executive Officers of Federal Government Parastatals, Agency and Departments”.
