Turkey gets second battery of Russian missiles, Americans will not be happy

The TURKISH Ministry of Defense announced that a second battery of Russia's S-400 missile system was delivered to it on Sunday, adding that the systems would be operational in April 2020.

The United States and Turkey are in dispute over Turkey's decision to buy those systems, which Washington claims are incompatible with NATO and are a threat to the 'invisible' F-35 Lockheed Martin fighters.

The first parts of the system were delivered to Ankara in July despite the threat of possible US sanctions. The US has therefore dropped Turkey from the F-35 program, but Ankara is rejecting US warnings for now.

The Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that delivery of another S-400 system battery has been completed.

Turkey plans to put them into operation in April 2020.

The systems will be activated despite US warnings

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in an interview with CNN Turk on Saturday that the systems would be activated despite repeated US warnings.

He noted that Turkey is also open to purchasing US Patriot systems.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Reuters on Friday that he would discuss the purchase of the Patriots with US President Donald Trump this month.
