VIDEO This is the worst serial killer in US history. He described the killings

Five years after analysts at the FBI's Violent Crime Detection Program (ViCAP) began linking cases to convicted killer Samuel Little and nearly 18 months after a Texas ranger began to draw an incredible amount of recognition, the FBI has confirmed that Little is the biggest a serial killer in American history.

Little has admitted to the 93 killings, and FBI analysts believe all his confessions are credible. Investigators have managed to confirm 50 confessions so far, with many still awaiting final confirmation. Little says he strangled his 93 victims from 1970 to 2005. The deaths of many of his victims have been attributed to overdose, accidental accidents or unspecified causes. Many bodies were never found.

“For many years, Samuel Little believed he would not be caught because he thought no one was taking care of his victims. Although he is already in prison, the FBI believes it is important to seek justice for each of his victims and to close each case, “said Christie Palazzolo, ViCAP's analyst.

The FBI is seeking the public's help to link the remaining unconfirmed confessions.

In the words of the killer: Video confessions and details of the case

Note: Samuel Little does not always remember the exact dates. Sometimes it is difficult to remember the clothes the victims wore. Any potential link should not be dismissed solely on the basis of these two factors. Little's footage contains descriptions of violent acts, so caution is advised when watching.

Unconfirmed Confession: Miami (Florida), 1971 or 1972.

Little recalls meeting a handsome 18- or 19-year-old black man in Miami (Florida) in 1971 or 1972. Little says the man introduced himself to him as a woman and Little knew him as Marianne or Mary Ann. Little says Marianne was 167 to 170 cm tall and weighing about 63 kg. Little met Marianne at a bar known as The Pool or Pool Palace near 17th Avenue in Miami. A few days later, they met again at a bar in Overtown, where Little offered her a ride home. Little says Marianne lived with several roommates between Brownsville and Liberty City. When they got there, one of Mariann's roommates asked them to buy shaving cream, so they returned to Little's car, a four-door gold Pontiac LeMans. Little drove Marianne north on Route 27 and killed her along the sugarcane field. He then drove to Everglades Road 27, turning onto a dirt road that led to a river or swamp. Little dragged Marianne's body about 200 feet into the thick and muddy water. He doesn't believe the body was ever found.

Unconfirmed recognition: North Little Rock (Arkansas), 1992-1994.

Little says he encountered a black woman between 1992 and 1994 in an uninhabited part of Little Rock (Arkansas). She remembers that it was cold and it might have snowed when they met. He describes the woman as a 24-year-old, 165 to 170 cm tall and weighing about 90 kg. Little hung out with her for about three days. He allegedly used to shoplift with his wife and then sell the goods. Little recalls being arrested for theft in North Little Rock at a Kroger grocery store. North Little Rock police records show he was indeed arrested for the April 20, 1994, robbery in Kroger. According to Little, he was released after about three hours to move his vehicle, a 1978 yellow Cadillac El Dorado (or maybe a yellow Dodge), from the store parking lot. Little says the woman was sleeping in his vehicle when he returned. He first drove the woman to a meeting with her ex-partner, a man called Bear (who he believes had died in the meantime), and then to her apartment. The next day he returned and drove his wife to Benton or Bentonville, Arkansas. When they left Little Rock, Little turned onto a dirt road and strangled his wife. She says she left her body on a pile of branches and old corn stalks or near a corn field. She believes the woman could be called Ruth and that her mother lived in North Little Rock.

Unconfirmed Confession: Covington (Kentucky), 1984.

Little says that in about 1984, probably in the summer, he drove his Lincoln Continental Mark III from Loraine (Ohio) to Cincinnati. On the way, he met a 25-year-old white woman in front of a strip club. She remembers being 167 to 170 cm tall and weighing 60 to 75 kg. Little describes that she had short blond hair and blue eyes and that she looked like a hippie. She approached him and asked for transportation to Miami (Florida), saying her mother lived there. Little says they took Highway 75. When they arrived in Cincinnati, they spent some time downtown on Vine Street. They continued their drive across the river to northern Kentucky. Little describes how they drove up the hilly end of Highway 75. He turned onto a dirt road and drove to the top of a “small, round hill,” where he strangled a woman in the backseat. He left her body at the top of the hill.

Unconfirmed Confession: Las Vegas (Nevada), 1993.

Little was driving a yellow 1978 Cadillac Eldorado to Los Angeles in 1993 when he met a black woman on Owens Avenue or Jackson Street in Las Vegas. He describes her as a slender dark-skinned woman, about 40 years old. She was about 165 cm tall and weighing 50 to 55 kg. Little believes the woman had naturally short hair but wore a long wig. He remembers his wife showing him his son, a black man from about 19 to 23 years old. Little admits that he took her to a motel and strangled her there. He put her body in the trunk of his car and drove outside Las Vegas. He stopped in an isolated spot on the road and pushed his body down a steep slope. He then tossed her clothes further down the road. It is very likely that her body was never found.

Unconfirmed Confession: New Orleans (Louisiana), 1982.

Little said that in about 1982, probably in the fall, he met a black woman in New Orleans. She says the woman was 30 to 40 years old, about 170 cm tall and weighing about 70 kg. She had honey-colored skin and medium-long, straight hair. She remembers wearing a nice dress with buttons up front. Little says they met at a club where she and her friends were celebrating someone's birthday. Little and the woman left the club in his Lincoln Continental Mark III vehicle. The woman told Little that she was living with her mother, who was ill, possibly disabled. She gave him the keys to her house. Little drove his wife to the exit of Highway 10 near Little Woods and then turned onto a dirt road along the canal. They got out of the car. Little dragged his wife to the canal and killed her there. He left the body at the scene of the murder. Afterwards, Little drove back to the motel he was staying in in Pascagoula (Mississippi).
